Sachteleben resigns as coach of K. Mortsel Stars

Posted on September 4, 2013 by philipp

After a split doubleheader against last placed LLN Phoenix, and the termination of pitching coach Alwin Van Maanen by the club board, coach Luc Sachteleben resigned as head coach of K. Mortsel Stars. The Stars ranked 5th in the 2012 season under coach Sachteleben, a higher ranking than recent few seasons. But the current season gave the disappointing result of 11-23, with 2 games to go. Skipper Sachteleben was not able to turn the team around, not being able to count on almost half of the preseason roster.

The Stars currently rank 6th, which – due to a change in competition structure for 2013 – now pushes to relegation games against the 2nd in second division. Only if the Stars take 2 from Deurne Spartans, and Merksem Greys get swept by the Namur Angels, these extra games might be avoided.
