Former Minor Leaguer Rudy van Heydoorn is going to play in Japan this year. After playing for the Seattle Mariners organization from 2007 to 2011, the ADO Lakers and DOOR Neptunus in the Dutch Hoofdklasse in 2012 and 2013 and Collecchio in 2014 in the Italian Federal Championship he is now suiting up for Ehime Mandarin Pirates of the independent Shikoku Island League. The 25-year-old catcher made his Dutch National Team debut in 2012. He is going to be the third Dutch player in Japan this year besides Rick van den Hurk and Wladimir Balentien.
