Royal Greys and Hoboken Pioneers to play in Belgian Series

Posted on August 29, 2008August 29, 2008 by philipp

With two more regular weeks of league play (besides a few make up games) in Belgian Baseball left, the finalists of the Belgian Championship Series are set. The HOBOKEN PIONEERS are hosting the ROYALS GREYS to crown the 2008 champion. The GREYS defeated third-ranked MORTSEL STARS twice this week and secured second place in the standings.

In the remaining four games this season, the PIONEERS face the NAMUR ANGELS and the BRASSCHAAT BRAVES. The ROYAL GREYS, who hope to defend the 2007 title, play the BRAVES and the BROGERHOUT SQUIRRELS. The Belgian Series begins on Saturday, October 4th.

In the Promo League the KANGAROOS and the CATS are leading the pack with 9-2 records, 2,5 games in front of the third-ranked ANTWERP EAGLES. Both frontrunners have to play against the EAGLES on the upcoming game days and hope to maintain their position, avoiding relegation into the 2nd Division.
