Rouen Huskies, Montpellier Barracudas most likely French Representatives in 2011 CEB Tourneys

Posted on October 29, 2010 by philipp

The French Baseball and Softball Federation (FFBS) is going to have two spots in next year’s CEB tournaments. However since only the Rouen Huskies were able to defend a French spot in the European Cup, one of the two teams has to play in a European Cup Qualifier. After winning their sixth straight championship last weekend, the Huskies are eligible for the European Cup, which will be held from May 30th to June 5th in San Marino and a still to be determined location.

The defeated Savigny Lions would be next in line to play in the Qualifier. But after finishing in sixth place at the European Cup in Rotterdam last summer, they decided not to play a European Cup Playoff in September and basically voluntarily gave away the second French spot in the A-Pool. According to various rumors in France, they are getting disciplined by the FFBS for their withdrawal. With that the Montpellier Barracudas would get a chance to play the Qualifier, which is scheduled to be played from June 13 to 18.
