The Rouen Huskies have won the 2015 Challenge de France. It’s the 18th national title for the club in the past 12 years. For the seventh time they have won the Challenge de France. In the final in Chartres on Sunday they defeated reigning French champion Templiers Senart 6-3 and qualified already for the 2016 European Cup. Keino Perez was named best pitcher, Jeffrey McKenzie MVP. Luc Piquet commented the triumph with a few short words: “Rouen is back”.
The double elimination style tournament started on Thursday with Rouen prevailing 5-3 over Stade Toulousain and Senart shutting out host French Cubs. On Friday the Huskies reached the semi-finals with a 3-0 win over the Templiers, which came through via a backdoor 12-0 win against Toulouse. In the semis Senart downed Paris UC 8-4 in a rematch of last year’s French Finals. Rouen beat the Montpellier Barracudas 8-3.
