Rouen Huskies are French Baseball Champion

Posted on August 15, 2007April 9, 2021 by MrBB

The Rouen Huskies captured their second straight French Baseball League championship by defeating the Senart Templiers in five games. The Huskies achieved the triple crown by winning the French Challenge Cup, the regular season title, and the league championship.

The Templiers raced out to an early lead and the series seemed destined for a Game 6. But the Huskies stormed back to win their fourth French baseball crown.

The Most Valuable Player of the finals, Mathieu RAFT of Senart, hit .409 and knocked in the winning run in Games 1 and 4. The Templiers also took home the Best Pitcher award as Senart workhorse Samuel MEURANT (16 IP, 11K, 1R, O.56 ERA) pitched brilliantly in a losing cause.

The Huskies Kenji HAGIWARA garnered Best Hitter honors by going 8-for-20 (.409) for Rouen which has won 202 games the past six seasons.

Nicolaus DUBAUT had a superb finals going 2-0 with a 0.57 ERA in 15.2 innings and was an integral part of the Huskies championship run.
