Roster Changes in Mannheim and Mainz

Posted on May 31, 2010 by philipp

Mannheim Tornados

The Mannheim Tornados reinforced their roster for the second half of the regular season. They have added the 20-year-old Matt Lokken to play third base and to pitch in game two each week. The right-hander from Oregon was drafted out of high school by the Florida Marlins organization in 2008. But a wrist fracture ended his professional career rather early. Lokken already played for Mannheim last weekend in Regensburg, when they ended the 14-game winning streak by the Buchbinder Legionaere with a split.

Mainz Athletics

The Mainz Athletics have parted ways with Daisuke Ikenaga and Soh Terada following their doubleheader against the Neuenburg Atomics on Saturday. The German Baseball-Bundesliga club was not satisfied with the performance of the two Japanese players and might is looking into signing a replacement. Terada already lost his spot as starting pitcher after their two home losses two weeks ago. He had a 1-5 record with an ERA of 6.33 in six starts. Ikenaga, who had his second stint with the A’s after 2006, played at short for a last time against the Atomics.
