While the German Bundesliga awarded their seasonal honors in the northern division to Bradley Roper-Hubbert (Best Batter) and Charley Olson (Best Pitcher), the Bonn Capitals announced even more good news. Both of their star players will be returning to Germany’s former capital in 2013.
After dominating german Pitching in his second year and a short stint with the Therwill Flyers and Great Britain at the World Baseball Classic Qualifier, Bradley Roper-Hubbert decided to go into his third year with the Bonn Capitals. “Our Club is very proud of B.J. winning the award and we are very excited that he will join us again in 2013. He is one of the most spectacular players in the Bundesliga and is a perfect fit for the Capitals”, says Headcoach Mirko Heid.
Olson excelled in his first year in a Capitals’ uniform und went on to win eleven of his twelve starts with an ERA of 1.31. The 24-year old, like Roper-Hubbert a former GSU Panther, will also return to the Rheinaue Ballpark next Season. “Charley helped us win a lot of games this season with his excellent outings”, according to Heid, “So we are more than happy that Charley will also be joining us again in Bonn.” It is still a couple of month before Opening Day in the German Bundesliga, but the Caps have already closed down two very important deals for the next season.
