Mr. Cocker HCAW, which started into the 2010 campaign in the Dutch Hoofdklasse with four wins in the first twelve games, is adding two more Venezuelan national team players. Wuillians Vasquez and Roger Luque will join Dirimo Chavez in Bussum according to Honkbalsite.com.
Vasquez already played this weekend in the series against Corendon Kinheim, going 3-for-6 with a run scored. The 26-year-old outfielder looks back at 295 minor league games for the New York Yankees organization and also played for T&A San Marino in the Italian Baseball League.
Luque is a 30-year-old left-handed pitcher, who is expected to arrive following the completion of the season in the Panamanian league. For Bocas del Toro he has currently an ERA of 2.72 with 58 strikeouts and 24 walks in 82 2/3 innings.
As an amateur free agent Luque had joined the San Diego Padres organization in 1997 and also pitched for minor league teams of the Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals during his professional career. He also spent seven seasons on the independent league circuit.
Together with Chavez, all three were part of the Venezuelan national team at the Baseball World Cup last September.
