The Italian Baseball League club Montepaschi Grosseto has a new president. Roberto Ferri was elected on Wednesday evening by the executive council of the club. At the meeting Umberto Zanobi also was confirmed as secretary. Ferri will evaluate the other positions in the front office over the next ten days to decide over the other assignments in a different assembly.
Ferri replaces Claudio Banchi, who resigned last weekend. Banchi was president of the club since 2000. During his time Grosseto won national championships in 2004 and 2007, as well as the European Cup for Champions in 2005. He also was sentenced to eight months of prison in December 2007 for forging official documents.
