One of the best players ever in Italian Baseball League history returns to his roots. The 44-year-old Roberto De Franceschi is leaving De Angelis Godo after three years to join Danesi Nettuno. The veteran who is the all-time leader in games played (1,348) and hits (1,536) in Italy is going to play his 27th season next year.
De Franceschi began his career in 1984 in Nettuno, where he won five national championships until 2003. He moved on to Grosseto to win another title in 2004. Since 2007 he was playing in Godo. This past season he batted .186 (OBP .227/SLG .221) with one homerun, two doubles, nine runs scored and eight RBI in 39 games. In his career he has a .302 batting average (OBP .382/SLG .433).
