The Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB) inducted two new members into their Hall of Fame at the KNBSB Congress last weekend: Robert Eenhoorn and Fred van Groningen Schinkel.
Eenhoorn played for the New York Yankees, Anaheim Angels and New York Mets during his professional career and later became a successful coach and technical director for the KNBSB, highlighted by the 2011 Baseball World Cup title. He then departed baseball to join a soccer club in a managing position.
Van Groningen Schinkel had been one of the best umpires in European Baseball, working various international tournaments, including the 1996 and 2004 Olympic Games. He is currently the chairman of the umpire commission of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB).
