Starting pitcher Rob Cordemans is leaving SPARTA/FEYENOORD ROTTERDAM to join L&D AMSTERDAM. Rogier van Zon reports on Honkbalsite.com that the right-hander will play for his fourth club in his Hoofdklasse career. He debuted in 1994 with NEPTUNUS ROTTERDAM, where he stayed until moving on to ADO in 2006. The past two seasons he was back in Rotterdam.
Cordemans will be re-united with his former NEPTUNUS coach, as Charles Urbanus Jr. was confirmed as new PIRATES head coach a few days ago. The 34-year-old also is a member of the Dutch National Team since 1995 and participated in all big international tournaments.
Cordemans was second in the league in 2009 with an ERA of 0.91 behind and led all pitchers with 9.40 strikeouts per nine innings. He posted a 6-2 record in 13 starts for SPARTA/FEYENOORD, striking out 103 batters in 98 2/3 innings, while walking 26. He was named best pitcher in the Hoofdklasse five times.
