According to Italian news reports ASD Rimini is withdrawing from the Italian Serie A1 and the European Champions Cup for the 2019 season. After president Simone Pillisio stepped down and took a bunch of players with him to Nettuno, apparently the foundation of the club is too damaged to compete in the highest division in Italian Baseball. The Italian Serie A1 will enter the 2019 season with seven teams. A second Italian team – perhaps last year’s runner-up Parma Clima – is taking over Rimini’s spot in the European Champions Cup, which will be held in Bologna this year.
