Riccione Dolphins will be the IBL2 affiliate for the Italian Baseball League club Telemarket Rimini. Both clubs are close to finalize an agreement according to Baseball.it on Monday evening. They already had established a working relationship for quite some time, so it was a logical step.
The Dolphins played in Pool B of the Serie A2 championship last season and finished the year with a 15-19 record. Candidates to make the jump into the IBL1 with Rimini could be left-handed pitcher Francesco Nardi (17 GS, 7-7, ERA 2.46, 113.1 IP, 71 SO, 58 BB) and the brothers Simone (.286/.359/.429) and Mattia Pandolfi (.219/.387/.362).
Baseball.it also mentions that 23-year-old second baseman Mattia Campanini could return to Rimini after one season with De Angelis Godo. He batted .226 (OBP .292/SLG .258) with eleven runs and six RBI in 124 at-bats through 39 games in 2009.
