Rick van den Hurk strong in 2nd NPB Start, still gets send down

Europeans in Japan Comments Off on Rick van den Hurk strong in 2nd NPB Start, still gets send down

On Monday Dutch right-hander Rick van den Hurk dominated in his second start in Nippon Professional Baseball. He faced the Nippon-Ham Fighters with his SoftBank Hawks and struck out 13 batters in seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk. He left the game with the Hawks trailing 0-2, but his offense picked him up with four runs in the bottom half of the seventh to give him his second win in as many starts. However since a blog post by Chris Kabout he still will be send down back to the farm team due to foreign player restrictions. Jason Standridge will take his spot on the roster.
