Riccardo Fraccari has won the elections in the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS). He received 58.18 percent of the votes during the ordinary assembly in Salsomaggiore, Parma on Saturday to remain President of FIBS. Claudio Carnevale gave him a run for the job, receiving 41 percent of the votes, while Antonio Micali (0.82 percent) had no chance at all.
Additionally Giovanni Sanna, Fabrizio De Robbio, Vincenzo Savasta, Luigi Cerchio, Giuseppe Guilizzoni, Mario Colombo and Andrea Paini were elected as federal councilors, while Monica Corvina and Massimo Focchi were confirmed as athletes’ representatives. After his confirmation as FIBS President, Fraccari said that the doors of his federation are not only open, but wide open for everybody who has an interest to work for baseball and softball. He also emphasized that this will be his last term as FIBS President. Fraccari is also the President of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) since the end of 2009, working heavily on the reinstatement of Baseball into the Olympic programme.
