The Mainz Athletics have signed right-handed pitcher Eric Massingham. He is coming from the Stuttgart Reds, where he had celebrated his German Baseball-Bundesliga debut last year. In 13 starts he had an ERA of 2.96, while striking out 117 in 97 1/3 innings. Stuttgart was his first stop in European Baseball. After college he got drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies and remained two seasons with that organization. Afterwards he joined the independent league circuit for the next four years. He also played in Australia.
