The preseason in Spain continued with the second game days of the Catalonian Championship and the Apertura Tournament in Navarre.
After having a bye a week ago, the FC BARCELONA kicked off their exhibition schedule with two wins against CB VILADECANS. On Saturday pitchers Guillem Marti, Andres Gimeno and Juan Mayoral led BARCA to a 6-5 win. Jason Friedman got the last out in the game, making his debut for the club. He also relieved Homer Baez in a 9-2 victory on Sunday morning. Friedman impressed at the plate as well. Short clips from these two games are available on the Bateando website.
In Irabia SAN INAZIO BILBAO pounded out 18 runs on 18 hits in an 18-2 victory against PAMPLONA B last Saturday. Catcher Asier Izaguirre had four hits in five at-bats. Daniel Celaya had two hits for PAMPLONA. On Sunday BASEBALL NAVARRA defeated PAMPLONA A 9-6 behind two hits each from Hector Perozo and Arkaitz Ordoki. PAMPLONA’s reliever Alberto Casanellas retired all eleven batters he faced. Lineups from last weekend.
