Results Spanish Division de Honor March 23&24

Posted on March 25, 2013 by philipp

The Spanish Division de Honor played its second game day of the 2013 season this past weekend. CBS Sant Boi and CD Pamplona remain at the top of the standings. Sant Boi split a doubleheader against Baseball Navarra, while Pamplona shared wins with the Tenerife Marlins. In the other two matchups CB Viladecans swept San Inazio Bilbao in their 2013 debut and El Llano earned a split against the Astros Valencia. CB Barcelona had a bye this weekend.

The two-game set between Viladecans saw Elys Montano striking out nine in eight innings to lead Viladecans to a 3-1 win over San Inazio in game one. In the second game Remigio Leal debuted for Bilbao, taking the loss despite eight Ks in eight innings of a 3-4 defeat. The Spanish national teamer has returned to Spain after several years in Italy.

In the duel between Tenerife and Pamplona, CD earned a surprise 3-1 win in game one. In a pitcher’s duel between Alexis Fumero (PAM) and Leslie Nacar (TEN), which saw both hurlers pitching for the complete ten innings, two runs in the top of the tenth gave Pamplona the win. In game two Jose Luis Salazar and Richard Montiel scored three runs apiece to spark a strong Marlins offense in an 11-3 victory.

Sant Boi barely escaped Burlada without a sweep. After losing 3-10 to Victor Martinez (4 RBI) and Navarra in game one, the champion of 2010 held on to a 7-6 win in game two, as Ruben Fente induced the game-ending double play in the ninth. Daniel Martinez homered twice and drove in five of the seven Sant Boi runs.

Last year’s regular season winner Astros Valencia is still struggling. They had to settle for the split in Gijon. In game one Osiris Pascual and Mikel Bosch combined to keep El Llano to one run, while the offense produced nine runs through 15 hits in a 9-1 win. Luis Peraza collected four hits and four RBI. In the second match Yasiel Pino struck out a weekend-high of 13 batters to lead El Llano to a 2-1 victory. He issued just one unearned run on five hits and a walk in nine innings.
