Posted on June 9, 2015June 9, 2015 by philipp

In the Spanish Division de Honor the Tenerife Marlins made a big step towards defending its championship. On Saturday they defeated the Astros Valencia on the road 4-1 and 4-0 to move two games ahead in the standings. With just four game days left on the schedule, including three home dates, Tenerife would need to suffer a surprise meltdown to lose on the title.

On Saturday Leslie Nacar allowed 11 hits and three walks in nine innings, but only one run to lead the Marlins to a 4-1 victory. Jose Manuel Melendez drove in two. Richard Montiel scored twice. Trevor Caughey took the loss, issuing 11 hits and four runs (2 ER) while going the distance. In the second match Carlos Miguel Sierra and Andres Perez combined for a one-hitter in a 4-0 shutout. Lowuin Sacramento took the loss. Montiel collected two RBI.
