In the first weekend of the playoffs CBS Sant Boi swept the series against OBB. Both games took place at Orio, San Sebastián.
Before the games, the teams observed a minute of silence for Xavier Mateu.
In the first game, the ladies of Fernando Lance were ahead the 6 innings and left a final score of 9 to 2. Teresa Sanjuán hit an inside the park homerun and Sara Gómez, Raquel Fernández and Beatriz Parejo were decisive to bat in the runs CBS Sant Boi scored with a single and a double each. Parejo clearly led on the pitching circle with 7 strikeouts, 1 walk and just allowing 2 hits and 2 unearned runs at the bottom of the 6th inning. OBB’s pitcher, Mariuca Royo, strukout one and allowed 4 earned and 5 unearned runs with 2 walks.
The second game was quite exciting. Ane Barandiaran for OBB and Maria Ramos for CBS Sant Boi started on the mound. At the top of the 3rd Irene Peña from CBS Sant Boi scored the first run batted in by Sara Gómez. At the bottom of the 5th Edurne Fernández tied the game with an infield hit that allowed Elena Etxeberria score. Sanjuán scored the 2nd and decisive run batted in by Parejo with a sacrifice fly to leftfield. Ramos strukout one and allowed just 3 hits and 1 earned run in 4.1 innings. Tamara Huete relieved Ramos allowing 3 hits and 1 walk in 1.2 innings and Parejo saved the game allowing 1 hit and strikingout one. Barandiaran pitched the whole 7 innings with 3 hits, 8 strikeouts, 3 walks and 1 unearned run.
At the end of the day, CBS Sant Boi leads the playoffs with 2 wins. The Spanish División de Honor champion will be decided the next weekend in Sant Boi, Barcelona. The 3rd game will take place on Saturday 22nd at 8:30 pm and the 4th and 5th games will be played on Sunday if necessary.
