Only three games were played in the Italian Serie A1 Baseball on Friday and Saturday with the rest being rained out. Sipro Nettuno Baseball City and Parmaclima split their two-game series. Nettuno prevailed 11-4 on Friday. Leomart Rodriguez drove in four runs for the hosts. Luis Alvarez and Andy Vasquez went deep for Nettuno, Sebastiano Poma and Mattia Mercuri for Parma. Ricardo Hernandez earned the win, Erly Casanova took the loss.
In game two on Saturday Parma won 11-10. Parma scored the two runs in the top of the ninth to secure the victory. Nettuno had taken a 7-0 lead after the first, but Parma climbed back to lead 9-8 midway through the sixth. Nettuno scored two runs in the bottom half of the sixth, but weren’t able to defend the one-run lead through the end. Alex Sambucci and Luis Alvarez hit home runs.
In the third played game this past weekend San Marino Baseball edged out Autovia Castenaso 1-0. A solo home run by Alex Romero in the bottom of the fifth was all San Marino needed thanks to brilliant pitching by Carlos Quevedo, Andres Perez and Fernando Baez, who allowed only three hits and three walks in nine scoreless innings, while striking out 17. Aliangel Lopez took the loss.
