The Italian Baseball League started the 2016 season last weekend with nine games. While a couple of rainouts led to some rescheduling all the games got in. Tommasin Padua stunned defending champion ASD Rimini by winning two of three games. After Padua won the opener on Friday 1-0 in eight innings, Rimini struck back with a 10-0 shutout in the second match. In the rubber match Padua prevailed 7-2. Unipol Bologna won two of three against Parma BC. Bologna was on the verge of a sweep, winning games one and two by scores of 6-5 and 2-0. Then on Sunday Parma came back to win 11-7. Meanwhile T&A San Marino beat Novara 16-1, 5-2 and 5-0 for a three-game sweep.
