The fifth week in the Italian Baseball League season 2012 saw a couple of big surprises and the leaders struggling. Grosseto Baseball stunned Unipol Bologna by winning the first two games of the series, before losing 9-10 in a nail-biter in the third match. It were just the wins number three and four for the club from Tuscany, while Bologna now has four losses overall this year.
T&A San Marino remains in first place with a 12-3 record. They also were part of an upset, as the De Angelis Godo Knights continued to show signs of improvements in comparison to previous years when they avoided the sweep with a 3-2 win in the third game on Saturday evening. Telemarket Rimini moved past Bologna into second place thanks to a three-game sweep over Novara United. Danesi Nettuno took two of three from Cariparma Parma.
