The preliminary round at the ISF Junior Women’s Softball World Championship in Cape Town, South Africa ended on Wednesday with all three European teams in the tournament missing out on round two. The Czech Republic lost 1-11 against Canada to finish with a 3-4 record in fifth place of Pool A. Russia concluded the first round by defeating Germany 4-1 in an all-European matchup. They ended up in sixth and seventh in Pool B with their lone other wins coming from a forfeit against the no-show Zimbabwe. USA, Canada, New Zealand and China moved up from Pool A, Japan, Australia, Taiwan and Brazil advancing in Pool B.
