The playoff teams in the German Baseball-Bundesliga are off for two weeks, as the national team traveled to Canada for the World Baseball Challenge in Prince George. Nonetheless the playdowns continued this weekend with one matchup in each the northern and the southern division. On Saturday the CARDINALS won both games in BONN and moved into fifth place of the standings. The CAPITALS still need one more win to avoid playing a relegation series. Originally HAAR and GAUTING also were supposed to play on Saturday, but rain forced them to meet on Sunday with each club capturing one win. This is nothing new in the southern playdowns, as each game day now ended with a split. The DISCIPLES remain in fifth, while SAARLOUIS and the INDIANS follow closely.
