While the first round of the playoffs in the German Baseball-Bundesliga is already in the books, the playdowns just started this weekend. In the north the Dohren Wild Farmers edged out the Berlin Sluggers 7-6 in 11 innings and 12-3 in nine to solidify sixth place in the standings. The second scheduled doubleheader between the HSV Stealers and the Pulheim Gophers was canceled as the Gophers decided to forfeit the two games on Sunday. In the south the Mannheim Tornados let their kids play, but still were able to beat the Bad Homburg Hornets 21-10 and 11-10 on Saturday. The Tornados already have secured fifth place with the Hornets stuck at seventh.
