In the German Baseball-Bundesliga two more decisions were made this weekend. In the north the Dortmund Wanderers clinched the fourth spot with a sweep against the Dohren Wild Farmers. Two lopsided wins by the HSV Stealers over the Pulheim Gophers were not enough to change anything on the outcome, as they have lost the season series against the Wanderers. They still celebrated, as Hamburg’s veteran Thomas Riedner collected his 500th hit in his career. The clash between the Solingen Alligators and Untouchables Paderborn got rained out. Additionally the Bonn Capitals dispatched the Berlin Sluggers.
In the southern division the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg cruised to a pair of easy wins against the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe to secure the number one seed. It is their seventh southern title in team history. The race for the other two playoff spots remains open as the Haar Disciples and the Mannheim Tornados captured sweeps on the road. The regular season for the Disciples is over, finishing with a 13-11 record. Mannheim and the Mainz Athletics are tied at 12-10 with two games to go. The Tornados have won the season series against Mainz, but lost it against Haar. The A’s would have the upper hand over the Disciples. Mannheim faces the Heidekoepfe, while Mainz takes on the Gauting Indians.
