The regular season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga got concluded last weekend. The Haar Disciples earned the last spot in the playoffs with a split against the Mannheim Tornados, which have to settle for the playdowns.
Michael Stephan hit the game-winner with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth of game one. Mannheim tried to get back and scored two runs in the top of the ninth. But with runners on second and third and no outs, Kevin Trisl induced a pair of flyouts to first and one to center field to end the game.
In the north the HSV Stealers continued their strong performance with a sweep over the Bonn Capitals. In game one Adam Greenberg hit a pair of home runs to pace Hamburg to the victory. In game two Michael Couch and Parsa Bergengruen combined for a shutout.
The quarterfinals start on Saturday. The HSV Stealers square off with the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe. The Solingen Alligators travel to the Haar Disciples (live on www.eurobaseballtv.com).
