Regensburg’s shortstop Matt Vance put on a hitting display on Saturday to lead his team to a sweep in Mainz, improving to 8-0 for the 2010 season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. He homered four times in the doubleheader, as the Buchbinder Legionaere won 9-7 and 13-2. The Mannheim Tornados (in Saarlouis), Haar Disciples (in Neuenburg) and the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe (in Gauting), also celebrated sweeps this weekend in the southern division, although the defending champion had to go through extra innings in game two against the Indians.
In the north the same picture – four sweeps. The Bonn Capitals and the Solingen Alligators march in front of the standings with perfect 8-0 records after out-scoring their respective opponents 18-1 on Sunday. The Cologne Cardinals has entered the win column, as they won twice at the winless Pulheim Gophers. The Paderborn Untouchables solidified third place against the Dohren Wild Farmers one week before their showdown with Solingen.
Short recaps to all the games will follow on Tuesday
