The Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg and the Solingen Alligators improved to 6-0 apiece in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. Regensburg swept the Mainz Athletics 10-6 and 9-3 in a key matchup in the south. Pascal Amon set the highlight with a grand slam in game two. Peter Johannessen had hit another home run for Mainz in the Friday night game. Solingen needed a walk-off win in game one and a gem by Chris Mezger in the second contest to prevail 3-2 and 1-0 over the Hanover Regents.
Surprise wins on the third game day were delivered by the Dortmund Wanderers and the Bad Homburg Hornets. The Wanderers look early on like a serious contender for the fourth spot in the north, defeating the Hamburg Stealers in both ends of their twin bill. In game one Rene Herlitzius pitched a complete game and in the second Dortmund turned a 1-4 deficit into a 7-4 victory. Meanwhile the Hornets prevailed 7-6 in game two over the Mannheim Tornados.
