The Bonn Capitals handed the Solingen Alligators their first loss of the season in the northern division of the German Baseball-Bundesliga with a split on Sunday. After Solingen edged out a 5-4 win in game one, Charley Olson out-pitched Nick Renault with 13 strikeouts in a complete game encounter, which helped Bonn to a 6-2 win. In other matchups in the north the Untouchables Paderborn swept the Cologne Cardinals and the HSV Stealers had to settle for a split against the Dohren Wild Farmers.
In the south, just two doubleheaders were played due to rain and a third got moved from Saturday to Sunday. Meanwhile the leading Mainz Athletics solidified first place with two wins over the Bad Homburg Hornets. Max Boldt highlighted the second with a walk-off hit in the ninth. On Sunday Luke Sommer debuted for the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe, which won twice on the road against the Mannheim Tornados.
