In the Dutch Hoofdklasse the Vaessen Pioniers sit in first place following another sweep. This time they dropped the promoted DSS in three games. Once again defense and pitching dominated with the Pioniers allowing just one run in 27 innings. Ricardo Hernandez, Lars Huijer and Elton Koeiman led the way with strong starts.
Curacao Neptunus and the L&D Amsterdam follow tied in second place with seven wins in nine games. Neptunus defeated Mampaey The Hawks in all three games this weekend. Amsterdam won their series against Corendon Kinheim 2-1. Rob Cordemans out-dueled Tom Stuifbergen on Thursday. Kevin Heijstek then led the Pirates to a 3-1 win on Saturday. Only on Sunday Kinheim celebrated after a 7-3 victory, erasing a pair of deficits in the process. UVV won twice against HCAW Bussum to move within a win towards the top four.
