Posted on May 9, 2009 by philipp

Before the eight Czech Extraleague teams met on Saturday afternoon for another game day, the Baseball community in the Czech Republic went to the Municipal Stadium in Brno for the annual all-star event. Reigning champion AVG DRACI BRNO lost 6-7 against the Czech National Team. Before the match, Pavel Budsky won the homerun contest with four round-trippers. Infielder Petr Baroch and outfielder Matej Hejna excelled in the skills competition. Catcher Radim Chroust won the speed contest, being clocked with ca. 94 MPH (151 KPH).

On Saturday DRACI BRNO got back into victory lane, defeating MZLU EXPRESS 8-2. Obviously they are still in first place with a 9-1 record, having out-scored the rest of the league 115-32 so far. TECHNIKA BRNO moved into second place (8-2), winning twice at ARROWS OSTRAVA. Third-ranked SKOKANI OLOMOUC split a slugfest with the TEMPO TITANS, as both teams combined 59 runs in two games. The EAGLES and the PATRIOTS also had to settle for a split.
