The Austrian Baseball League saw some kind of pre-start into the 2011 season, as the Schwechat Blue Bats faced the Schwaz Tigers on Saturday in the lone start on opening weekend in Austria. In game one the Blue Bats won 9-6. Afterwards vice champion Tigers avoided the sweep with an 8-4 victory. Reigning champion SHELLAC Athletics Attnang-Puchheim is opening the new baseball year next weekend versus the Vienna Wanderers.
