Results Austrian Baseball League May 15&16

Posted on May 16, 2010 by philipp

Two splits and two postponements is the outcome of week five in the Austrian Baseball League. On Saturday the Vienna Metrostars and the Schwaz Tigers settled for a split at the Spenadlwiese in Vienna. In game one the Metrostars overcame an early 0-1-deficit and beat the Tigers 6-2. In the second match Schwaz got payback, building a 7-3 lead after six innings. They blew things wide open in the seventh, scoring five more runs, but they didn’t count in the end, as rain stopped play, making the score after the sixth official.

In the second matchup on Saturday the promoted Rohrbach Crazy Geese picked up their first win of the season, winning a wild game two against the Union Kufstein Vikings 12-11. Rohrbach took an early 9-0 lead, but trailed 9-11 in the eighth, but still coming back to seal the victory. The Vikings had won game one by a score of 11-6.

The two doubleheaders on Sunday, including the duel between the two top teams in the standings, SUPERFUND Wanderers and Athletics Attnang-Puchheim, got rained out and will be made up later this year.
