Results Australian Baseball League January 22

The playoff field in the Australian Baseball League is set after a thrilling end to the regular season. The Perth Heat, Melbourne Aces, Sydney Blue Sox and Adelaide Bite made it to the postseason in the six-team league. The Canberra Cavalry and Brisbane Bandits are on the outside despite having the same records as Sydney and Adelaide.

On Sunday the Bandits had edged out the Bite with a 7-6 win, defeating the pitching combo of Pat Ahearne and Dushan Ruzic. David Sutherland belted a pair of homeruns for four RBI. Also the Aces won a slugfest 10-7 against the Cavalry. Brad Harman scored three runs and drove in two, also hitting the lone homerun of the day. In the third matchup the Heat beat the Blue Sox 7-2. Geoff Brown pitched 6 2/3 two-hit innings for the win.
