After the Christmas break following the All Star Game, the Australian Baseball League re-entered the field with week eight this weekend. Italian right-hander Alex Maestri came out of the interruption with a gem, earning pitcher of the week honors. He pitched the third complete game in the ABL this season in a 6-1 win of his Brisbane Bandits over the Canberra Cavalry last Thursday. He allowed just two hits, an unearned run and four walks in nine innings of effective work. He threw 102 pitches, 66 for strikes. He is now 3-2 with an ERA of 2.82 overall.
