In week six of the Australian Baseball League the Canberra Cavalry and the Brisbane Bandits fought back on Saturday. Canberra celebrated a 4-1 victory over the Adelaide Bite. A bases clearing double by Kellen Kmiecik, who played for the Berlin Sluggers this summer, in the sixth inning became the crucial hit in the end. Hayden Beard pitched seven scoreless innings for the win. Darren Fidge took the loss.
In the other matchup the Bandits prevailed 18-10 in a high-scoring affair against the Perth Heat. Brisbane scored in seven of the first eight innings to out-slug Perth. Keiji Nakahara, Josh Roberts, David Sutherland, Mitch Nilsson and Rory Rhodes went deep. Mitchell Graham hit a grand slam for Perth. His teammate Alex Berg also homered.
