Report on Dutch Softball Playoffs

Posted on September 7, 2007September 7, 2007 by MrBB

The Tex Town Tigers and the Twins staved off elimination in the Dutch Softball League semi-final playoff action with Game Three victories over the Haarlem Sparks and the A4 Terrasvogels last Sunday.

The Tigers (26-9) nipped the Sparks 3-2 to trim the series lead to 2-1. Haarlem (27-8) won the first two contests 4-0 and 3-2. Tigers ace pitcher Lindsey MEADOWS – who was 18-5 with 190 strikeouts in the regular season – will be trying to make history this weekend.

The only team to comeback from a 2-0 deficit in the Dutch Softball League was Peijl DSC ’74 in 2003 who rallied to win three straight games against the Sparks after dropping the first two meetings.

The Twins (16-19) needed 10 innings to force a Game Four against top-ranked A4 Terrasvogels (29-6) with a narrow 5-4 victory. Top hurler Michelle HAEN won 10 games this past season and will be on the mound to start Game Four.

The 1-2 combination of Judith VAN KAMPEN (12-2) and Dagmar BLOEMING (11-2) gives A4 Terrasvogels a huge advantage heading into this weekend.
