Posted on January 12, 2011January 12, 2011 by philipp

The 33-year-old right-handed pitcher Rene Herlitzius is leaving the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg to return to the northern division of the German Baseball-Bundesliga. He is going to join the HSV Stealers, where he also is going to get his share of appearances as a position player. Additionally he is going to coach youth players and the club hopes to profit from his experience.

In 2010 Herlitzius had a 5-0 record with an ERA of 1.25 in 14 appearances on the mound (two starts). He struck out 19 batters and walked 14 in 36 innings. In the playoffs he gave up five runs on six hits and six walks in 4 1/3 innings. The former German national teamer has a career ERA of 3.07 in twelve seasons Baseball-Bundesliga. Before coming to Regensburg he had played for the Paderborn Untouchables (1997-2004, 2006), Holzwickede Joboxers (2005) and the Dortmund Wanderers (2007-2009).
