Registration open for MLB Cup London 2019 Workshops

As you will already be aware, Major League Baseball (MLB) will be hosting two regular season MLB games in Europe for the very first time. Two giants of baseball, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees will lay claim to one of the most heated rivalries in professional sport on June 29th and 30th in the Mitel & MLB Present London Series 2019.

To celebrate, MLB will be hosting four workshops and a Q&A session as part of MLB Cup London 2019, focusing on specific elements of the game to help develop coaches and players within the baseball and softball community. The workshops will be hosted by MLB international instructors.

The workshops will take place on Sunday 23rd June 2019 in the CTC Classroom at the London Marathon Community Track, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London E20 2ST.
Session 1: Development Programme for Throwing and Pitching
A sequential approach to throwing and pitching, with special emphasis on creating healthy and effective throwing athletes.
Timing: 10.00am – 11.15am
Presenter: Bill Holmberg, MLB Pitching Coordinator Europe and Africa.

Session 2: Hitting: Difference Makers in MLB Broken Down to Youth Development
Technology has changed in the game and therefore, baseball and softball as games have also changed. Hitting has been highly analyzed and these finding have been carried down to player development. The hitting workshop will look at aspects of the skill in combination with efficient learning protocols that can be used in practice to further develop players hitting ability.
Timing: 11.30 – 12.30pm
Presenter: Martin Brunner, Coordinator Baseball Development Europe.

Time: 12.30 – 1.30pm

Session 3: Strength & Conditioning; Speed Up Player Development by Creating Better Movers
Understanding basic movement principles in baseball and softball will develop player’s athleticism. Time spent on techniques and aspects within this workshop will speed up development and allow players to reach a higher level of baseball or softball.
Timing: 1.30 – 2.45pm
Presenter: Chad Gravenorst, MLB South Africa, Strength & Conditioning Specialist.

Session 4: Infielding: Fundamentals that Matter When the Game Speeds Up
This workshop will look at infield fundamentals and a universal approach to fielding that simplifies catch and stay in motion. With this understanding and protocols for practice, building instincts and self-learning will be developed.
Timing: 3pm – 4pm
Presenter: Alejandro Sanchez, MLB Europe, Infield Coordinator.

Session 5: Q&A
Timing: 4pm – 5pm
Transport
Attendees are advised to arrive via tube to Stratford station, which is serviced by the Central, DLR, Jubilee and Overground tube lines.

There will be no parking available at London Stadium or London Marathon Community Track. If you will be arriving by car or other vehicle, you will need to find your own parking in the local area, including Westfield Shopping Centre Car Park, Stratford.
Entry
All attendees will be required to go through a security check prior to entering the Stadium and Community Track area so please ensure you allow sufficient time on arrival for this before the scheduled workshop time.

Please respond with your interest by Friday 14th June 2019. Places will be held on a first come first served basis. All sessions are open for baseball and softball players, coaches, parents etc.
