According to a report on Baseball.it, 19-year-old Mattia Reginato is leaving UGF Bologna and is going to join T&A San Marino. Battled by an injury early this season he only hit .179 (OBP .343/SLG .214) in 56 at-bats through 19 games during the regular season in the Italian Baseball League. He is expected to share time behind the plate at the Titans with Simone Albanese. It is also quite possible that he will be accompanied by Jairo Ramos Gizzi, who batted .325 (OBP .438/SLG .430) in 42 games in 2010.
With Reginato leaving Fortitudo also is expected to extend the contract with Juan Angrisano. Speculation is that Cody Cillo, Juan Carlos Infante, Joe Mazzuca, Jesus Matos, Victor Moreno, Livinston Santaniello, Riccardo Fornasari and Daniele Malengo return as well. If Ramos Gizzi is indeed making the trip to San Marino, Bologna needs to find a new cleanup hitter. Rumors indicate that they are interested in Laidel Chapelli of Telemarket Rimini.
In other Fortitudo news, head coach Marco Nanni is going to join the Italian national team coaching staff of manager Marco Mazzieri in the 2011 season, probably in a similar role like Gilberto Gerali (Cariparma Parma) during the European Championship this summer. The club also is currently talking with main sponsor Unipol Gruppo Finanziario (UGF) about a renewal of their current partnership agreement.
