Regensburg to Host 2023 World Baseball Classic Qualifier

Posted on July 8, 2022July 8, 2022 by MrBB

Regensburg’s Armin-Wolf-Arena will be the site of one of two qualifying tournaments for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, with the city on the Danube hosting Germany, Czechia, Spain, France and South Africa from Sep 16-21.

The second qualifying tournament is scheduled for Panama City, Panama, from Sep 30-Oct 5, with the top four teams from the two double-elimination, qualifying tournaments earning the right to compete at the 2023 World Baseball Classic, which is scheduled for Mar 9-21, 2023.

The Armin-Wolf-Arena hosted a World Baseball Classic Qualifier in 2012, with Canada edging out Germany in the final to reach the tournament proper.

The Netherlands, Italy, and Israel have already qualified for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, with the Dutch and Italians travelling to Taiwan to compete in Group A, from Mar 9-13, while Israel will compete in Group D in Miami, FL, from Mar 11-15.

Tickets for the WBC Qualifier in Regensburg are scheduled to go on sale on Friday.
