Regensburg, Heidenheim open Week 2 with Friday Night Game

Posted on April 9, 2010 by philipp

Petr Cech had a successful Debut for Regensburg in Mannheim

The second week in the German Baseball-Bundesliga is highlighted by the duel of the Buchbinder Legionaere and reigning champion Heidekoepfe at the Armin Wolf Arena in Regensburg. It all starts tonight with Friday Night Baseball. Boris Bokaj (REG) and Markus Winkler (HEI) will take the mound and should guarantee a pitcher’s duel after their Easter performances. Game two is scheduled for Saturday afternoon with Chris Paterson (REG) taking on Dusty Bergman (HEI), who struggled in his first start of the season.

The two-game series is also the homecoming for two former key players of the Buchbinder Legionaere, as southpaw Martin Almstetter and recent-addition Michael Weigl will return for the first time to Regensburg in a Heidenheim jersey. The weekend also will mark the debut for Chris Beck, who had missed the first two games due to a suspension after last year’s semi-finals.
