Not only in Italy and Germany started the 2010 season this weekend, but also in Major League Baseball. On Sunday evening at Fenway Park the Red Sox came back twice to defeat the Yankees 9-7. Dustin Pedroia, who went deep, and Kevin Youkilis combined to score five runs and drive in five for Boston. Youkilis also scored the go-ahead run in the eighth on a passed ball. Jorge Posada and new Bronx Bomber Curtis Granderson also hit homeruns.

Two players with European ties will be on opening day rosters of the 30 MLB teams. Andruw Jones (White Sox) and Jair Jurrjens (Braves) are going to begin the season with their respective clubs. Jurrjens is expected to start on Wednesday, April 7th at home in Atlanta against the Chicago Cubs. Roger Bernadina nearly made the Nationals, being reassigned to Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday. There is no further news on Wladimir Balentien. He is out of options and is getting designated for assignment by the Cincinnati Reds. The club hopes to trade him in the next couple of days.

You can follow Major League Baseball in Europe as usual through ESPN America or MLB.tv.
