CB Sant Boi – CB Viladecans 4-2, 7-0
CB Sant Boi ended the seven-game winning streak of CB Viladecans in the Division de Honor. In game one Sant Boi took a quick 3-1 lead after three innings en route to a 4-2 victory. Xavier Civit went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Rafael Rivas scored twice. Denny Nino reached base four times, hit a solo homerun and scored both runs for Viladecans. Eliezer Garcia (W 5-1) struck out eleven in seven innings, allowing five hits, two runs and two bb. Carlos Luis Amaro (L 2-3) gave up eight hits, four runs (3 ER) and two walks in seven frames. He had seven strikeouts.
In the second match Lowin Sacramento (W 6-2) struck out nine in seven scoreless four-hit innings to lead Sant Boi to a 7-0 shutout. They scored three runs in the first and four in the eighth to seal the win. Marc Carrillo hit a homerun and drove in three overall. Pol Llopis (L 2-3) issued five hits, three runs (2 ER) and two walks in seven innings.
Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz – Halcones de Vigo 9-0, 9-0
For the second time in 2011 a team didn’t show up for its two-game series in Tenerife, as the Marlins Puerto Cruz picked up a pair of forfeit wins over Halcones de Vigo.
Sevilla Red Sox – CD Pamplona 2-18 (5), 11-5
After getting crushed 2-18 in the first game, the Sevilla Red Sox celebrated their first win of the season in the second part of their twin bill against CD Pamplona prevailing 11-5. Eight runs in the bottom of the sixth decided the outcome. All nine players in the starting lineup scored at least a run for Sevilla. Dennys Soto had his best game of season, going 4-for-5 with three RBI. Emili Lopez (W 1-5) struck out eleven in a complete game victory. He allowed eight hits, five runs (3 ER) and nine bb. Eneko Del Burgo (L 0-2) was charged with eleven hits, eight runs and a walk in 5 1/3 innings.
In the first game CD had scored in each of the five innings to cruise to an easy 18-2 victory. Isaac Palencia (4-4, 4 Runs, 3 RBI) and Carlos Del Burgo (4 Runs) crossed the plate four times apiece. Gabriel Guerrero hit a homerun and drove in five. Alexis Fumero (W 2-6) issued six hits, two runs and a walk in five innings. Diego Torres (L 0-4) surrendered four hits, six runs and four bb in one-plus innings.
Baseball Navarra – FC Barcelona 2-3, 0-11 (7)
The FC Barcelona solidified first place in the Division de Honor with a sweep over Baseball Navarra. In game one Jesus Golindano scored the tie-breaking third run in the top of the eighth for a 3-2 win on a double play groundball by Jose Luis Riera. Navarra had erased a 0-2 deficit thanks to a RBI groundout by Luis Villanueva in the sixth. Ricardo Hernandez (W 6-0) dominated with 15 Ks in nine strong innings, allowing two unearned runs on seven hits and two walks. Juan Jose Lopez (NAV) struck out eight in six innings, issuing six hits, two runs and a bb. Hector Perozo (L 0-4) took the loss in relief.
In game two Barca scored five runs in the second en route to an easy 11-0 shutout. Emmanuel Febles and Jose Luis Salazar combined for four RBI. Rafael Llames scored three times. Jorge Balboa (W 5-0, 5 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 8 SO), Jonathan Garcia and Oscar Jimenez held Navarra to two hits in seven scoreless innings. Andres Casado (L 3-3) was charged with three hits, five runs and three bb in two innings.
San Inazio Bilbao – Astros Valencia 2-7, 1-8
The Astros Valencia stay right in the title hunt, winning both games against San Inazio Bilbao. In the first match Aaron Hornostaj and Whitney Robinson-Pierce scored twice to lead Valencia to a 7-2 win. Trevor Caughey (W 5-0) struck out nine in seven innings. He allowed seven hits and two runs. Jose Romero (L 4-3) gave up six hits, four runs and four bb in 5 2/3 innings.
In the second part of the doubleheader Aaron Hornostaj went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, as the Astros scored six times in the seventh for an 8-1 win. Sandel Cuevas and Pedro Luis Peraza had two RBI apiece as well. Pedro Pablo Belmonte (W 6-0) pitched all nine innings, conceding nine hits, a run and a walk. Alberto Magallon (L 2-5) allowed twelve hits, eight runs (5 ER) and two bb in 6 1/3 innings.
