Leslie Nacar (W 11-0) struck out eleven in his eleventh win of the season, leading TENERIFE to a 10-2 win in PAMPLONA. He gave up just two runs (1 ER) on five hits in eight innings. Daniel Sanchez and Richard Montiel drove in two runs each. Gary Martinez had three hits, including two doubles, for CD. Alexis Fumero (L 2-6) conceded seven hits, six runs and two bb in 6 1/3 innings.

In the second match the MARLINS improved their perfect record in the 2009 season in Spain to 24-0 with a 13-0 shutout. Ivan Granados struck out seven in five scoreless one-hit innings. Audie Nunez completed the one-hitter with two scoreless frames afterwards. Luis Perez went three-for-four with three RBI. Daniel Martinez scored three times. Ekaitz Ezpeleta (L 0-3) conceded eight hits, seven runs (6 ER) and two bb in 1 1/3 innings.

The FC BARCELONA crushed EL LLANO 16-3 in game one of their twin bill. Each player in the starting lineup scored at least a run. Jesus Golindano drove in three. Albert Diaz went four-for-five with two RBI. Homer Baez (W 9-2) allowed seven hits, three runs (2 ER) and two walks in five innings. Marcos Pinto (L 0-1) was charged with nine runs (7 ER) on ten hits and two bb in 3 2/3 innings.

BARCA also hadn’t much trouble in the second match, winning 7-2. Orlando Diaz led the offense this time, collecting three hits and three RBI. Pedro Belmonte (W 10-0) gave up six hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk in eight innings. Ruben Fente (L 5-3) was responsible for twelve hits and six runs (2 ER) in seven innings.

SAN INAZIO scored ten runs in the first five innings of a 12-2 victory against NAVARRA in game one of their two-game series. Fidel Mane and Asier Izaguirre combined for nine RBI. Dirimo Chavez went four-for-five with three runs scored. Mane (W 5-3) also pitched seven solid innings, allowing seven hits, two runs and two walks. Juan Jose Lopez (L 2-7) issued six hits, seven runs and five bb in 3 2/3 innings.

In the second match BILBAO used a four-run sixth to overcome a 0-2 deficit after three innings in a 4-2 win. Carlos Vicario tied the contest with a two-run single. Ivan Roman followed with a RBI single to put them up in front. Jose Acosta capped the rally with a RBI fielder’s choice. NAVARRA led since a solo homerun by Juan Jose Lopez in the second and a RBI double by Larry Infante in the third. Alberto Magallon (W 5-4) allowed two runs on nine hits in eight innings. Juan Miguel Marte (L 3-4) took the loss in relief of Alberto Espanol, who had given up seven hits in five scoreless innings.

VILADECANS defeated the ASTROS 3-1 in game one of their doubleheader last Sunday. Both teams exchanged RBI singles in the bottom of the first and the top of the second before David Albado’s RBI groundout in the bottom of the second regained the lead for VILADECANS. Juan Fernandez added an insurance run in the eighth with a RBI single. Delio Martinez (W 8-1) surrendered just one run on eight hits and two walks in a complete game win. He struck out nine. Edward Adames (L 0-3) was responsible for five hits, two runs (1 ER) and four bb in seven innings.

After a span of 55 losses in the Division de Honor since their promotion at the beginning of the 2008 season, the ASTROS won for the first time thanks for runs in six of the first seven innings of game two against CB en route to an 8-2 victory. Luis Galicia (W 1-3) gave up just seven hits, two runs and six bb in nine innings for the win. He struck out three. Eric Cowes tripled, scored three times and drove in two. Joshua Castro (L 3-2) conceded eight hits, six runs (5 ER) and two walks in three-plus innings. VALENCIA’s only wins in the past two years in meaningful games came during the relegation series against the RED SOX SEVILLA last fall.

SANT BOI scored four runs in the opening frame en route to an easy 6-2 victory against VIGO in game one of their twin bill. HALCONES cut the deficit in a half during the fifth, when Angel Virgues drove in two with a double down the right field line. But the CB added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh to regain the four-run advantage. Javier Jose Flores scored twice. Oscar Alvarez (W 9-3) gave up ten hits, two runs and five walks in nine innings. He struck out eight. Roman Carrasco (L 1-1) issued four this, five unearned runs and four bb in six innings.

HALCONES got payback in the second match, scoring two runs in the top of the ninth for a 6-4 victory. Marco Marques and Juan Jose Lopez had the decisive RBI singles. Carlos Fente had tied the contest for SANT BOI in the eighth with a RBI double. Milko Jaramillo drove in two for the Catalonian club. Lopez (W 3-2) also picked up the win on the mound, allowing eight hits, four runs and four bb in nine innings. He struck out nine. Jose Estebin Cruz (L 8-4) suffered his fourth loss in his last five starts, conceding eight hits, six runs and three walks in nine innings.
