Unipol Bologna defeated the North East Knights 8-1 on Thursday evening in the Italian Baseball League. Juan Carlos Infante and Livinston Santaniello combined for four RBI. Jesus Matos (W) gave up just one unearned run on five hits and three walks in six innings for the win. Rodney Rodriguez (L) issued five hits, three runs (2 ER) and three bb in five innings.

Montepaschi Grosseto used four runs in the seventh to decide the outcome in a 5-1 victory over Telemarket Rimini. Leonardo De Donno and Andrea Sgnaolin had two RBI apiece for the Orioles. Jean Granado (W) pitched his best game in the IBL so far, allowing just two hits, an unearned run and three bb in 7 2/3 innings. He out-dueled Dushan Ruzic (L), who struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings, but also conceded five hits, four runs and two walks.

Danesi Nettuno celebrated a 5-0 shutout over defending champion Cariparma Parma on Thursday. Kris Wilson (W) gave up only three hits and two walks in eight scoreless innings to lead the way. He struck out seven. Mihai Burlea (L), who took the mound for the injured Jesus Silva, surrendered seven hits, five runs (3 ER) and four bb in six innings. He collected nine Ks. Giuseppe Mazzanti hit a solo homerun. Ennio Retrosi went 3-for-4 with a walk, a run and a RBI.
